Holly is awesome and the classes are so great, you get all the tools you need and the socialization for the dogs is so great and really will help with long-term temperament. I really wanted to start training for new puppy as soon as possible, but was SUPER nervous about doing anything before he was fully Vaxxed for Parvo. Once I saw the disinfectant info on Karma''s website, and read the reviews. I decided to give it a chance and I am so glad I did. It is an very safe environment The puppy kindergarten is worth every penny and honestly a steal for the time spent and what you get out of it. I have two older dogs as well, and wish I had done the same class for them. I've also just done a private training with Holly and it was so great and helpful and I got way more ideas and health than I was expecting. |

That's early teens in dog years, full of energy, extremely smart and like all teens occasionally bored and full of mischief. At the time she had no formal training and I wanted the best. Holly has been amazing. My puppy is always excited to see Holly because she knows the training session will be fun and rewarding. In less than 2 months, she knows the basic commands and is leash trained. She obeys because she wants to please not because she's afraid of punishment. And here's the beauty part. I've been trained as well. Holly has really helped me understand my fur baby and that's bond building. Because of her excellent behavior, I feel confident about taking my fur bestie out and about town with me. 10 stars and two thumbs way up. It doesn't get better than that! |

It was a fantastic experience that helped our puppy get comfortable playing with other pups at a crucial time. And the training techniques that Holly provided were far more effective than those that we found from apps or Google searches. Holly was also very meticulous about keeping the training area clean, safe, and disinfected for puppies that haven't yet had all of their shots but needed to start early socialization. highly recommend! |

She took time with my 9 week old, 2 pound puppy and me at our first ever class to make sure my puppy had a positive experience and felt comfortable starting to socialize with the other dogs. Holly also interpreted some of my puppy's behaviors for me and coached me on how best to help my puppy feel comfortable engaging with dogs. Even though it was a full class with lots going on, Holly frequently came back to me and/or my puppy several times to check in and offer guidance and positive reinforcement (although only my puppy got the freeze dried liver treats!) I have never posted a comment before, but I was so impressed with Holly and her team that I felt compelled to post. |

I signed my 8 week old puppy for the Puppy Kindergarten classes and for 5 personal training sessions - Holly was the trainer for both. Her (and Karma's) philosophy is positivity training, no punishing. Not only is this a very effective training tool, but it increases the bond between you and your puppy. I was trained how to redirect unwanted behavior and to have patience. Holly's training of my puppy also taught me how to train my puppy and to focus on the solution, not the problem. My puppy loves Holly and loves to learn from her, she makes it fun. She also follows every session with an email recap so I have notes to refer to. The puppy classes were great also because in addition to teaching the 7 basic commands Holly devoted half the time to puppy play which socialized my puppy. Hiring Holly & Karma was a great decision |

It's rolling enrollment so no waiting for the next session to begin. We learned our basic commands and because the classes take place in an enclosed pen within the store, it allows for a lot of off-leash play time for socialization and to break it up a little the for their short puppy attention spans. Holly went above and beyond to get teach us the tools for an acclimated, entertained, and well behaved puppy. Truthfully, I believe her sessions were more about training us to speak the same language as a dog than it was our puppy because they were on the same page within minutes! We took a little longer to catch on but Holly was patient the whole way through. I'm often a "learn it yourself" person but not in this case. The wealth of experience she translates in her training is worlds away from anything we could have learned ourselves. I especially appreciated her taking the time to explain the psychology so we understood why certain forms of communication are more effective than others, what is normal/abnormal behavior to expect in a puppy, and which toys would be best for our breed! |

My pup, Charlie, was a really energetic dog and he was hard to train but so worth it! She really helped me and my family learn about dogs and how to happily live and love them. She helped me be confident as a dog owner helped us integrate Charlie into society. She was always available to help us whenever we had an issue with anything! She went with me to parks and hikes to properly socialize Charlie! I really consider myself lucky that I was able to find a trainer who is purely positive that is effective. The puppy kindergarten sessions came with our private training package. They've been amazing with helping Homer to understand socialization and how to behave and play with other dogs. I had never had a puppy before and was not knowledgeable about the vivacious energy level of a puppy or how important the training would be. Buddy, now my six month old Cavapoo, started Puppy Kindergarten once a week with Holly and also individual private training once a week for 11 weeks. About half way through the training courses I began to wonder if I needed to find a good home for him as I was having a hard time keeping pace with the energy level and degree of hard work it took to care properly for him. At that point I had a consultation with Holly about my concerns and that was the best thing I could have done. Her love for dogs and their doggie parents was amazing. She gave me the compassion that I needed and her encouragement to me and her love for Buddy turned the corner for me and I became very enthusiastic and serious about the training. It was life changing to see him be so happy with himself in learning all of the basic commands: come, sit, stay, leash walking, shake, high five, leave it, crate training and many more. Holly knows the psychology of dogs so well and her many years of experience is paying off for so many lucky puppies and dogs of any age. The philosophy of Karma Dog Training is positive reinforcement and no punishment as this makes for an unhappy dog and many behavioral issues down the line. Now I can't even imagine my life without Buddy. He is a happy and well behaved puppy and still learning. I'm so grateful to Holly every day for this gift she has given to me. I knew socialization in the puppy stage was crucial, but didn't realize that early exposure and positive reinforcement would drastically change my puppy's interactions with other dogs. During his very first class, my pup was reserved and unwilling to engage with other dogs. By the second class, all the way to graduation, he was jumping right into action to play and make new friends. I believe that he may have been afraid and aggressive without puppy kindergarten. Holly Lyons from the Beverly Hills location was incredibly supportive and guided us through the whole journey. I couldn't recommend Puppy Kindergarten enough, would 100% recommend to new puppy parents. |

She helps you train your puppy and establish an effective method of communication. I had problems with leash walking and every method she taught me has helped tremendously. My puppy is also really shy, but she encouraged me to go a nearby park and socialize with other dogs and he really has come out of his shell. I cannot thank Holly enough for her help in training my puppy. I was very overwhelmed in the beginning and watched a lot of youtube videos, but they pale in comparison to actually getting a trainer and practicing every day with your pup. Tami Goodman was the instructor for a series of in-person lessons in an outdoor park in Santa Monica -- Our mini-poodle Luca had not really been around any other dogs because of the pandemic, and he was really eager to be there and to investigate. He made great progress, and the sessions were enjoyable. Tami is extremely patient and made sure to explain the steps for everything because, of course, the creatures who were really being trained were me and my husband. It was money well spent! We also engaged Holly Lyons to come to our house for a series of 7 individual sessions and those have been a highlight for Luca -- he loves it when Holly comes because he knows the behavior-reinforcing treats are just minutes away. It is eye-opening to watch him learn, and we can see it happening right in front of us. Holly is extremely patient, both with him and with us, and explains everything in many different ways to be sure we understand why we are doing what we are doing, and what we have to do in order to get the desired result. Both Holly and Tami get 5 stars from me because of their caring professionalism! I am very glad we chose Karma Dog Training for our little fella Luca. |

A loud car passing, a bus, someone with a blower, etc. would all cause her to tuck her tail and pull back refusing to walk any further. We had unsuccessfully completed three other training programs before finding Karma. Holly is an absolute genius! We enrolled him in puppy kindergarten in attempt to socialize him early/safely before he was able to get all of his shots, as well as instill some basic commands while he was a baby. Our instructor for the class, Holly, was so great in teaching us how to communicate with Oskar using positive association/praise and all of those basic tricks (sit, stay, down, come, etc.) have all stuck with him over the last few years. A few months into the pandemic, we noticed some behaviors starting to develop that we weren't super thrilled with - barking, pulling, jumping, etc. We reached back out to Karma for a private session and requested Holly since we were familiar with her from the kindergarten class. We spent an hour and a half with her yesterday afternoon and almost immediately started to see progress with him. Not only is she great with Oskar and can get his attention with ease, Holly was also extremely clear with us about the steps we needed to take in order to continue pushing Oskar to behave in the way in which we want. It's clear that half of the battle in training is consistency in human behavior and our reactions to the things that our dogs do - Holly is great at helping owners to see that and explaining how you have to shift to achieve results. We could not recommend Karma or Holly more if you are looking for positive training methods/help in addressing unwanted behaviors! |

We went through the seven key commands every puppy should learn, and our Clementine got a chance to socialize with other puppies. She did however still have a little trouble controlling her impulse to nip while playing (as shibas are a very mouthy breed) and insisted on eating all sorts of mysterious objects we encountered on our walks. Because of this we enlisted Holly Lyons for three private training sessions, and the work she did with Clementine was absolutely phenomenal. She made the "leave it" command into a game that Clem loved to play, and showed us how to shift Clementine's focus during her nippy episodes onto appropriate objects to nibble. As a result, we have a wonderfully trained little lady, and when we adopt a companion for her we will definitely be requesting Holly again. I highly recommend Karma and Holly Lyons to anyone looking to help their pup grow into a miniature model citizen. |

I have tremendous respect for your knowledge, kindness, and humane approach to dog training. Cora's tension around other dogs was a constant source of anxiety, and after seeing, learning, and practicing today, I already feel so much better. I know it's a long road ahead, and of course my learning as a dog parent will continue for her whole life. But, I feel more prepared to be an excellent parent for Cora now than I ever have before! After another training, he followed up - We've met at least 50 (maybe even closer to 75?) dogs since my last email. Almost zero issues - a couple times she let out a "warning" growl when another dog approached too quickly, but that's it! Just the other day she spent 30 mins playing with a little pomeranian at the park. No growling, very gentle. A few times she got carried away and tried to jump up on the other dog, but I was able to repeatedly encourage her to get back on all fours and resume normal playing. Thankfully the other dog didn't mind Cora's awkward manners, so it was perfect for teaching. Using your advice, I re-introduced Cora to another dog in my building - who used to send her into her freak-out mode on sight! Those are just some highlights from a very good couple of weeks! We've definitely seen improvement, and I feel far more confident introducing her to other dogs. Obviously we will continue teaching and improving 😎 Thanks again for everything! |

When we brought Lando home, we quickly realised that he needed to get out and meet some other puppies & very quickly, Sunday became the highlight of his week. All shoes are disinfected before entering the puppy learning area, the play times are monitored so that nothing gets out of hand and the learning portions of the class are broken up between the play times so that everyone (humans & pups) can stay focused. Holly & AJ are truly wonderful with the pups and the advice they give is incredibly helpful. They are always more than happy to answer any questions you might have! At first, Taro was very shy and hiding from the other pups. Fast forward to today, Taro is one of the most sociable dog I know. He loves to socialize with other people and dogs every time we are out. Taro will be graduating this Sunday and I cannot be more pleased. Karma Dog Training has done a great job putting this course together but the biggest reason for the 5 star is due to their excellent staff. Our Trainer (Holly) was excellent and very patient throughout the course and always made our time there very positive. She is full of wisdom and always took the time to answer our questions. She is a major asset to Karma Dog Training's program. Her assistant (AJ) was great as well. She was very attentive to the puppies during playtime and made sure all the pups were comfortable throughout the course. |

We did one in home session and are 3 weeks into puppy kindergarten for our 12 week old puppy. He is already a pro at "sit" and "down" and using his fresh patch, and has gotten the hang of "leave it", "stay," fetch, close-leash walking, and "look at me." Holly has never hesitated to help us with extra questions, even off the clock when I don't expect it. All of her training advice has been spot-on and has helped us understand how our new puppy is thinking. It's also been great to expose our puppy to others during kindergarten, especially since he is much more shy than we thought he would be with other dogs. We recently attended a class and it so happened that mine was the only puppy there (a very unusual occurrence) - lucky for Halley, she got to work with the trainer, Holly Lyons, one-on-one for an hour. Holly was great- she practiced loose leash walking and "stay" and she taught her how to roll, bark on command and best of all, be quiet on command (it has already come in so handy!). It was amazing how much Holly was able to teach in just 1 hour and that she was able to keep Halley's attention for the entire hour. It probably helps that I happen to have the smartest puppy in the world :)! But seriously, it was pretty incredible to see how much could be taught in a positive manner and in a way that makes sense to both puppy and owner. I look forward to more group and individual sessions with Karma Dog Training! |

I don't know how she did it, but Holly has taught Eclaire (our doxie) not only how to socialize, do basic commands, and listen to us all using positive reinforcement, she has taught us as puppy parents of how to understand dog behavior and has become Eclaire's new best friend. Eclaire looked forward to going to school not only for the dogs, but for Holly as well. She's a nervous Dachshund and it takes her a bit to warm up, but Holly has formed a special bond with her and she even trusts strangers a lot more now. Every time she sees Holly she squeals out of joy and gives her so much love. She used to hide between my legs and will now approach people and even let them pet her when before she was scared of everything. Eclaire is so well behaved and I have this class to thank. Karma is a very safe, informative, and clean environment. I love that there is no negative training and that they are they to listen to your every question and concern while giving you honest feedback and helping in any way they can. Eclaire has become a completely different dog, not as nervous and listens so well all because of her amazing training at Karma. When Maddie started, she was really shy and scared around the other pups, but since then she's definitely gained a lot more confidence and feels much more comfortable going on walks and out in public with me. Holly has also come to my home for a private session, and even gave me tips and treats for working with my roommate's dog before we began working with Maddie. I'd absolutely recommend her if you're looking for a great and friendly trainer who will take the time to get to know you and more importantly, your dog/puppy, and teach them great habits and tricks in surprisingly little time. www.yelp.com After hours of searching for puppy training/socialization classes, I'm so happy that I chose Karma dog training. I've been going to puppy kindergarten at the Beverly Hills location with Holly Lyons and AJ and they have exceeded expectations by far! I starting bringing my puppy at 10 weeks mainly to let her socialize before she has all her shots. They disinfect the area, before entering everyone disinfects their shoes, and if a puppy pees or poos they quickly clean it with disinfectant so you don't have to worry about your puppy catching any diseases. Playtime is always a ton of fun for both you and your dog and the trainers make sure that no one is playing too rough. They do a great job at monitoring all the dogs and other dog parents usually watch out too and stop anything that looks like it might get even a little out of hand. Classes have several sessions of playtime off leash and training and explanations of positive dog training at the beginning and end. If your dog is shy or smaller, there is a separate room for playtime, but I've seen that every dog grows out of that room after a couple classes. Comprehensive instructions for training and materials to bring are given before your first class. Holly gives many good recommendations and answers all questions regarding training and just having a dog - this is a well rounded class. The training sessions were very helpful for me. My dog would get too distracted most of the time because there were a lot of dogs but it was we still very valuable and taught me how to practice at home(see video). My dog loves coming here, it's a chance to get her puppy energy out and learn how to play with other dogs. This class has made me feel much more comfortable , especially as a first time dog owner, that my puppy has gone through proper socialization and That she can become a well behaved dog! It's also great to meet other pet parents every week and watch all the puppies grow! |

As anyone knows a puppy is rewarding and sometimes very frustrating. Every Sunday morning Holly literally shines brightness and calm into our life. Karma Dogs is 100% positive training and Holly wholly embodies that. She told us there is never a reason to say "no" or "don't" or "stop" to our puppy, and every time she reminds us I realize how true it is! It is so easy to get angry and yell "no" but it is also so easy to stay positive and redirect. I have even started being more positive in my own human communications! In class if Jetty isn't totally grasping the command right away, or playing with all the other dogs, she reassures us that he is young and he will get there. There is a side room where smaller and more shy dogs can gain confidence while the bolder ones romp around. Holly is great at noting who should play with who, how to encourage shy dogs, and how to direct puppies with a lot of energy all at once. The first class is free and we felt so welcomed. I also loved that at the end of class the instructors never put any sort of pressure to register. They are also very flexible with make-up classes. I can't wait to go back and to have Jetty continue different training levels as he grows! |

We decided to purchase the 8 week Puppy Kindergarten/5 Private Training package, so that we could get some help with our in-home training. Puppy Kindergarten gave our pup a really excellent way to socialize and taught myself and my partner the difference between good 'puppy-play' and more aggressive/over-stimulated behaviors. Now that we're taking our pup to the dog park, knowing the difference is very helpful! Our private sessions with our trainer Holly Lyons were also awesome - our puppy is so well behaved and great with obedience and I fully believe it's a testament to the great training we got with Holly. As first time dog owners we had tons of questions and Holly was always patient with us and gave us solutions to curb behaviors we were unhappy with. She also taught us how to teach our puppy and helped us form a great relationship with our dog. It didn't hurt that our dog absolutely loved Holly and was so excited to work with her whenever she came to our home. We also opted to try out Karma's Board and Train option when we had to leave our puppy for a long weekend. We left our dog in the capable hands of Jessica, who we'd met at Puppy Kindergarten and when we returned from our weekend, we came back to a happy, more independent dog. Jessica also added to the knowledge we'd gained through our privates with Holly by offering her observations and suggestions based on the time she spent with our dog. Overall, we've been very happy with Karma Dog Training and look forward to starting the Basic Obedience class soon! |

We rescued a 4.5 month old chihuahua mix puppy (Erv). His nickname at the shelter was "Wiggle-Worm". Really sweet, but really unfocused and super hyper. We signed up for private lessons through Karma and received an email from Holly Lyons. The privates with Holly were an unbelievably positive experience. Holly absolutely loves what she does and it transferred right to Erv. What Holly teaches takes patience and being engaged with your puppy (as opposed to intimidation or fear tactics [e.g. simply yelling NO!]), and it is SO worth it. After 5 sessions (over the course of 6 weeks), Erv is potty trained, sits with a hand signal, knows "leave it", "up", "stay", "look at me", "come", "shake", and a few more tricks. Walks with Erv were really difficult when we got him. After the training, we look forward to them. I really can't say enough about the experience. It has been rewarding to watch Erv's progress without the need to say "NO!" or "Stop!" or any of those negative commands. This is all through positive re-enforcement and connection. Just awesome. Holly is very personable and kind. She really cares. We feel lucky to have had her for these last 5 weeks. |

We have recently become the proud owners of a pair of dogs. When our new puppy came home, it was important for me to get her off to the right start. Holly arrived on day two and has been a source of constant support for our little Pomsky. On the first day, our little pup learned to sit on command. She quickly progressed to multiple tricks, potty training, crate training, etc. Holly was such a marvel that we asked for her advice with our rescue pup. Jack is a lovely dog and has brought much joy to our family, but it was a challenge to walk him as he had serious leash aggression issues. Holly has patiently worked with Jack and we can now handle his deep seated problems. We have had Holly dog sit at our home and she was respectful to our home and to our routines in our absence. I just been busy and needed someone to work with my poodle about some obedience and a few fundamental behaviors. Well I was so wrong about that , it came out that I couldn't stop listening to Holly , she is so knowledgeable and has such a good vibe with dogs ,it was fascinating to see her work. Holly is super nice fair and professional I literally had to tell her a few times that we passed our 90 minutes and I don't want to take of her time but it was more important for her to work with us and my dog. Regarding my puppy her behavior after the class was already better. I will schedule more classes with Holly cause she's really worth it. This inspired me to sign up for puppy kindergarten, which has been brilliant! Darling has had the chance to learn how to interact with other dogs and play safely, from her acquiring the rules of biting inhibition through to understanding equality in play. The classes combine lesson time and playtime, where Darling learns how to respond to various key words, and then runs about playing with the other puppies. Puppy kindergarten is also a delightful social outing for myself, with the others humans in class also being there for the same reason. Furthermore, Karma Dog Training offered us a complimentary puppy playtime on Christmas Day, which was a lovely way to spend the afternoon!
