Holly had her first skateboard when she was 13 years old. It wasn't until after she graduated high school that she got more interested. Growing up in suburbia she played sports like softball and volleyball where she practiced for a game so it was natural to compete in both snowboarding & skateboarding.
Graduating from U.C. Santa Cruz with a Degree in Business Economics was rewarding but her heart wanted to be in the mountains snowboarding or on cement skateboarding, so she packed her bags and moved to Lake Tahoe to snowboard in the winter and skateboard in the summer.
Putting her college degree to use, Holly Produced, Directed, and Organized Amateur Skateboard Contests in the summertime for three years. She helped raise $150,000 for the Truckee, Ca. Skate Park which was the first permanent skate park in the area. It was noted that she was the only female at the City Council events and helping to build the park.
During those years, Holly became a pro snowboarder and competed in Super Pipe and Boarder-cross where she ranked 12th in the World for Super Pipe and competed in the finals at the US Open.
She rode for Roxy Clothing, Gnu/Lib Tech, Ralph Lauren RLX- Polo Sport, Nixon, and more. After snowboarding and competing a lot, she decided to move to Encinitas, Ca. to skateboard more. Snowboarding super pipes and big transitions helped her to take what she learned on the snow to catching air on vert ramps after she learned how to drop in.
Many of Holly's snowboard sponsors put her on their skate teams. She was invited to be a part of the first and only female vert ramp demo at the Gravity Games and she was invited to compete in the first ever-female vert ramp contest at X Games lX. Holly went on to compete for 5 consecutive years in the summer X Games and is a World Cup Skateboarding Champion.
Holly was a Professional Skateboarder for about 10 years, and was one out of three females in the World to have her own Signature Skateboard Shoe. She was given the incredible opportunity to immortalize her Chihuahua, Rerun by making him the icon for her shoe. Her shoes were a top seller at a large Canadian chain store with 142 stores all over Canada and Europe. They were sold in various stores around the US and online, and outsold both of the male pro skate shoes put together.
She also had her own Pro Model Skateboard which was the top selling board for the company and gave her the ability to reach more kids and be a positive role model for the youth. Not just in America but also across the Globe.
For over 4 years, Holly had an 'Ask A Pro' page where she voluntarily answered questions from girls and even a lot of boys from around the World.
One girl wrote a three page letter telling Holly how she inspired her to not commit suicide. That was a life changing experience and shifted her perspective on how important it is to be a positive role model to the youth.
Volunteering became a passion, Holly loves to inspire others because she is so inspired by people she respects. She spoke at many schools and enjoyed coaching kids on and off their boards.
With her entrepreneurial spirit, Holly started her own clothing company called SK8*GRL, aiming to inspire and empower females on or off their skateboard to follow their dreams and believe in themself. SK8*GRL was a labor of love and her way of giving back to skateboarding and to females of all ages. Her brand was the only female clothing brand carried by VK Skate, California's largest skate Distribution Company. SK8*GRL was also asked to co-create tops with Warner Bros. & Supergirl for three different Supergirl Jam events, and Holly was a Supergirl Ambassador.
Living in Southern California, some really fun TV stunt double opportunities came her way. Holly has been a SAG-AFTRA Performer since 2010, and been a Principal Performer in National Commercials, and a skateboard stunt double on commercials and TV shows like "Hannah Montana,” "That's So Raven,” ”Roadies,” and in the movie “Dishdogz."
The feeling that Holly gets from skateboarding is something that nobody can give to you and nobody can take away. It's like the sunrise and the sunset, it's available to everyone, everyday. It's special and it's meaningful to each of us in different ways. She has always loved sports and being active because it's such a great way to learn about oneself and the infinite possibilities that are around us.
